Austin gathers to celebrate late journalist/activist Akwasi Evans, who published weekly East Austin grassroots newspaper Nokoa: The Observer for over 30 years. Festivities include a pop-up exhibit of Akwasi images and writing, the Voices of Struggle and Celebration poets group, and music from bassist Harold McMillan and hip-hop couple Riders Against the Storm. After touring with Nirvana and defining a poetically tough DIY style, Oakland-via-NYC crew Jawbreaker broke up in 1996.
