Carnaval is Austin's Brazilian-style Mardi Gras...since 1978. Five hours of non-stop live Carnaval music compels revelers to stay on the dance floor all night! Outrageous costumes provide an outlet for Austin's creative juices to flow...not to mention abundant eye candy! It has been described as a rave...with live music. Maybe!
The Wagoneers came out of Austin during the 1980s with a sound that quickly attracted a following among traditionalists as well as the rockabilly crowd. The Wagoneers have been inducted into the Texas Music Hall of Fame, and consist of: Multi-platinum songwriter Monte Warden on lead vocals and rhythm guitar, Brent Wilson on lead guitar and contributing backing vocals, Brad Fordham on bass, and drummer Mas Palermo. Don't miss this incredible night of music as they play a special set at Threadgill's Old No. 1.
The Shiny and Oh So Bright tour, an uncharacteristically crowd-pleasing endeavor from the alt-era titans, marks the first run by Billy Corgan, James Iha, and Jimmy Chamberlin in 18 years – bass jobber Jack Bates replacing uninvited original fourth D’arcy Wretzky. The Chicagoans’ hairless frontman remains easy to hate – his favorite Austin journalist is Alex Jones – but hard not to love when he’s sampling Siamese Dream and Mellon Collie & the Infinite Sadness, which monopolize the tour’s set list.
