Wilco tribute night w/ Star Parks, P.T. Banks, Daphne Tunes, Ben Ballinger, Small Houses

A Wilco hootenanny hinges on which locals can bottle the concurrent melancholy and winsomeness of Jeff Tweedy. Up to the task is Star Parks, whose frontman Andy Bianculli exudes that emotional indie bard quality. Melodically restless songsmith P.T. Banks and Santiago Dietche’s Growl sidestep Daphne Tunes possess Tweedy’s lush pop sensibilities, while Jeremy Quentin, aka Small Houses, and Ben Ballinger are strong lyricists slumming in covers. – Kevin Curtin

KGSR Unplugged at the Grove w/ Ray Wylie Hubbard

Ray Wylie Hubbard understands the underside of song, the dark belly where things get uncomfortable. Last year’s 17th LP, Tell the Devil I’m Getting There as Fast as I Can proved the Wimberley blues troubadour as vital and vicious a voice of hard truths as ever. His appearance for Unplugged at the Grove marks the midpoint of the series’ 25th season. – Doug Freeman
