The Wine Down feat. the Sour Notes

“Welcome to the club/ It’s who you know, not what you’ve done,” sings Jared Boulanger on the infectious psych-pop groover leading the Sour Notes’ new 7-inch. It’s a classic lyrical dagger of hype over substance, but the 10-year-old Austin trio are no charlatans. Their third release since November, Finest Sour finds a lovable sweet spot in the locals’ continued evolution of pop, shoegaze, surf, slowcore, and alt-rock.

Palberta, The Zoltars, Daniel Francis Doyle, Pataphysics

Idiosyncratic NYC trio Palberta makes land in Texas, toting their brazen blend of impulsive post-punk. Drawing comparisons to the Raincoats, 2017 LP Bye Bye Berta stacks reverent melodies over spiraling, hyper-speed instrumentation. Zoltars join in with locally-sourced gloom grunge, fetching under Jared Leibowich’s casual narration. Austin pop eccentric Daniel Francis Doyle and New Wave weirdos Pataphysics open.
