    Matt & Kim, CRUISR, Twinkids

    A decade since their debut Grand, Matt & Kim stick to their roots – pop aesthetics offering dance-punk twists. Forthcoming album Almost Everyday offers skittering electronics and galvanizing choruses (“Forever”) and extravagant production (“Like I Used to Be”). It’s a departure from the spaz-happy Brooklyn duo, but not Matt’s pop-punk nasal inflections.

    Kevin Morby, Hand Habits

    Kevin Morby’s languid croon rode the steady drive of Velvet Underground rhythms on last year’s excellent fourth LP City Music. As such, the L.A.-based singer-songwriter captured the charm of loneliness in a crowd, magical possibility in the ranging psych of a world in constant motion. Morby guitarist Meg Duffy opens with her February 2017 debut as Hand Habits.

    Brad Mehldau Trio

    Brad Mehldau has dominated jazz piano since his emergence a quarter of a century ago. Exploring improvisation outside his usual outfit, including an LP with mandolinist Chris Thile and a disc dedicated to Bach, the Florida native reconvenes his revered trio for Seymour Reads the Constitution!, originals and covers of Paul McCartney, Sam Rivers, and Brian Wilson.
