    Laundry and Bourbon with Lonestar, two companion one act plays set in backyards of a small Texas town. Three ladies come together to talk about their life's ups and downs. Lonestar follows the life of three small town boys and the events that have shaped them. Both shows give us highs & lows with humor spread around, for good measure.

    Garrison Brothers x Austin Bakeries

    September is National Bourbon Heritage Month, did you know? Which is why three local bakeries are offering bourbon-infused baked goods using whiskey and ingredients from Garrison Brothers Distillery. Hayley Cakes Bakery presents a downright decadent chocolate brownie cupcake made with bourbon wheat flour. Easy Tiger's limited-edition artisan bread features the red winter wheat, paired with, OMG, a homemade brown butter bourbon spread. And that Teal House Coffee and Bakery created a fine mess o' bourbon caramel sticky buns topped with roasted walnuts. And all these divine treats are available through Sept. 30.

    Northern-Southern: Baton

    This is a group show by relay, begun in July of 2020 as a method of socially distancing a community in the height of the pandemic: Artists took turns alone in the space, each adding to the exhibition. Now, as it nears its close, the exhibition resembles a community in which work converses and overlaps. With Adreon Henry, Vy Ngo, Dawn Okoro, Leon Alesi, Matt Steinke, Sev Coursen, Stella Alesi, and more.

    Umlauf After Dark: American Dreamer

    Here's the best way to gain insight into Ling-lin Ku's "Off The Map" exhibition before it leaves the museum at the end of the month, as the musical quartet American Dreamer and curator Katie Edwards present an evening of exploring the intersections of art and sound – in spaces currently not accessible to the general public.     AISD Launches New Support Web Pages

    Austin ISD has launched new web pages full of resources, FAQs, and instructions to support Community Learning Spaces and caregivers as students begin learning remotely for the first four weeks of school. Community Learning Spaces are facilitated by community organizations, groups of parents, faith-based organizations, or public entities that provide in-person support to students during times of remote off-campus instruction, and you can find one online if needed.

    Bullock Texas State History Museum: This Light of Ours

    This show features images by activist photographers of the Civil Rights Movement, telling a visual story of the struggle against segregation, race-based disenfranchisement, and Jim Crow laws in the 1960s. These photos capture the day-to-day struggles of everyday citizens and their resolve in the face of violence and institutionalized discrimination – with more than a dozen additional images representing activism and protest in Austin's own history.

    Davis Gallery: Full Circle

    This retrospective exhibition, "Full Circle: 40 Years of Making Art," reveals four decades of Caprice Pierucci's prolific career as a visual artist. Beginning in the 1980s with handmade paper impaled on wooden spikes, Pierucci's fascination with the colors of the cotton papers, jute, and pine she worked with launched her into a 40-year practice that's resulted in the sophisticated handcarved wooden forms for which she's become so well known.
