    The Austin Food & Wine Alliance hosts this online bake sale just in time for Mother's Day, a bake sale in which Austin's top pastry chefs and bakers – from Garbo's Lobster, Juniper, Eberly, Uncle Nicky's, SRSLY Chocolate, Rosedale Kitchen and Bar, Second Bar + Kitchen, Colleen's Kitchen, Brand & Mortar Group, Epicerie Café & Grocery, Olamaie, and more – create a box full of sweet and savory treats. (And of course that box can also be delivered to friends, family, and others who may just need some deliciousness delivered right to their doorstep but didn't necessarily, you know, give birth to you so many years ago.) Note: Orders for Austin delivery must be placed by 5pm on Wed., May 6.

    Antonelli's Virtual Cheese Classes

    Yes, the classes are virtual, but the cheese is real. John and Kendall and their hardworking crew, all dairy-proud and deeply knowledgeable, will school you (via private video conferencing links in GoToMeeting) on the delicacies you're nomming on that well-curated cheese plate you've just picked up. Note: This is for small groups with maximum size of 30, and you can opt to have your camera on or off.     Northern-Southern: Left In Leaves

    This is a group show of artistic interventions across the city of Austin, freely left in outdoor public spaces throughout May. (Note: Email the gallery for a map to the sites.) Who's involved in this fine endeavor? Sterling Allen, Ted Carey, Adreon Denson Henry, Sarah Fagan, Rachel Freeman & Korey Weiss, Emily Lee, Sean Ripple, Amy Scofield, Meghan Shogan, Amanda Julia Steinback & Staci Maloney, Alyssa Taylor Wendt, and Suzanne Wyss. Documentation will be shared on the Northern-Southern website and social media; at the conclusion of the month, the maps will be collected in a print zine, in which each artist will be interviewed. Northern-Southern will mail it to you upon request. And, look: The Chronicle's Robert Faires shares his own experience of the project.

    Bullock Texas State History Museum: This Light of Ours

    This show features images by activist photographers of the Civil Rights Movement, telling a visual story of the struggle against segregation, race-based disenfranchisement, and Jim Crow laws in the 1960s. These photos capture the day-to-day struggles of everyday citizens and their resolve in the face of violence and institutionalized discrimination – with more than a dozen additional images representing activism and protest in Austin's own history.

    Crux Climbing Center Online Classes

    Austin’s local climbing gym and fitness center is now offering online classes including training for climbing, yoga, HIIT, and circuit training to keep Austinites mentally and physically healthy. Classes are free and open to the public, with Venmo tips encouraged for trainers.     Rejoice, drive-in fans! Doc's is still showing films, with a new “Get out, go home” policy. Purchase everything online, even food and drinks, so you never have to leave your vehicle. They’ll direct you to a spot and you'll tune in on your car radio to hear the film. Concession orders will be placed on the roof of the car, so you don't have to worry about potential unsafe interactions. It's a safe, fun way to get out and see a movie on the big screen.

    Austin Habitat for Humanity announced that it has taken the ReStore online, allowing the community to shop the wide variety of items currently listed for sale from the comfort of their own home.     HC4A/Shalom Austin School Supplies Fundraiser

    HC4A and Shalom Austin had set a date of April 19 for their eighth annual event raising funds for school supplies for Austin-area homeless children, which last year supported over 1,300 children. The April event is now canceled due to coronavirus, but you can still help reach the fundraising goal of $34,000 to support 1,600 students. A small donation of $25 will help support one child. On Aug. 19, volunteers plan to gather to assemble the school supplies at Dell Jewish Community Center. Donate online at HC4A.org.
