And this year, the bazaar is hosting 12 Days of Giving, which means your dollars go to helping local nonprofits like HAAM, the Austin Art Alliance, Sun Radio, and (nine) more.

    Better Mr. Burns

Yes, this is that Anne Washburn-scripted, The Simpsons-go-postapocalypse brilliance that delighted audiences at St. Ed's a few years ago, now presented by a cadre of UT theatre students under the direction of Khristián Méndez Aguirre to "address the impact of environmental waste and abusive rehearsal practices to address a significant blind spot in contemporary American theatre: the intersection of environmental and social justice." And we've got a report on that right here.

    Second Anniversary Weekend

This newly revitalized basement venue is dedicated to "bringing the best in alternative comedy with shows seven nights a week." Mondays start things off with that sprightly revue of optimism called Fuck This Week, there's the unpredictable Playpen on Tuesdays, the all-female comedy showcase called Garage on Wednesdays, we're stoked about Thursday's supergroup mashup called Fuck This Garage and the kickoff to the Fallout's spectacular second anniversary weekend, an All-Star Stand-up Showcase featuring their best and brightest. We also, as ever, recommend you don't miss the inarguable power of Sure Thing with Duncan Carson and Brendan K. O’Grady that happens every Friday night. And then? Oh! Saturday! This Saturday brings components from parts of Austin's whole diverse comedy community onstage for a big, riotous Five Families Show, and – see website for more!

    Special Screenings

    The Big Sleep (1946)

Noir Canon: Perhaps the very best Philip Marlowe screen adaptation, The Big Sleep sizzles with the Bogey-Bacall chemistry and crackling dialogue full of innuendo. Although all of the plot convolutions are impossible to fully untangle, that has never gotten in the way of the film's enjoyment.

Thou, MJ Guider, Private Service, Die Young

Blood eagle breakout Magus landed Thou on most short-list 2018 metal ratings. The Baton Rouge beheaders’ fifth LP since 2007 writhes 10-minute Gulf Coast sludge epics infected with black metal scree. Witnessing Bryan Funck scream the life out of death in the intimate dive that is Eastside-metal-Valhalla the Lost Well should likewise constitute one of the best hard arts pulverizations of this cursed year.
