20th Anniversary: Anne Rapp received an Independent Spirit award nomination for Best First Screenplay with Cookie's Fortune, and what a first it was. Commissioned, produced, and directed by Altman, Cookie's Fortune – a crime comedy about a small-town Mississippi family grappling with a family suicide – starred an ensemble cast and led to Altman and Rapp collaborating on Dr. T & the Women.
