    Films for the Forest Call for Submissions

    Rainforest Partnership has announced it is accepting submissions for its annual juried film competition, Films for the Forest, intended to "share the voices and stories of forests worldwide, highlighting their rich biodiversity and local communities, their immense beauty and importance to the entire planet, the threats they face, and the opportunities for renewal." Winners will be announced on Earth Day (April 22, 2023).
    Regular deadline: Feb. 1; extended deadline: March 31

    Harry Ransom Center: Drawing the Motion Picture

    Explore the beauty and complexity of moviemaking through sketches, storyboards, and designs that illuminate the creation of motion pictures from the silent era to the present day in this new exhibition, featuring production art from iconic movies like Rebel Without a Cause, Raging Bull, Apollo 13, and Lawrence of Arabia, many connected with innovative directors Alfred Hitchcock, David Lean, Mike Nichols, Michael Powell, Nicholas Ray, Martin Scorsese, Stephen Spielberg, King Vidor, and more.

    We Luv Video Signs Lease for New Venue

    We Luv Video recently announced it has found a new home on North Loop, so "video rentals just got a new lease on life." The space used to house beloved rental shop Vulcan Video, and the org reports that the new space will house its library of videos as well as a small screening space. Stay tuned for more details.
