REVIEWED By Richard Whittaker, Fri., Feb. 7, 2020
Inspired by the directors of the golden age of Hollywood, and most especially of the work of Citizen Kane cinematographer Gregg Toland, director Bong Joon Ho has reworked his tale of class struggles and the perils of capitalism in black-and-white, much as with Logan Noir and Mad Max: Fury Road - Black & Chrome. The images may be monochrome, but the complexity of the narrative is layered in grays. Read our four-star review of the Oscar-winning classic here.
