First Annual Latino Comedy Film Night
NR Directed by Various.
REVIEWED By Marjorie Baumgarten, Tue., Aug. 6, 2002
This series of short comedy films from local and national filmmakers have been selected by members of Austin's award-winning comedy troupe, the Latino Comedy Project, and members of Cine Las Americas. The films feature a wide range of filmmaking styles from different perspectives and all walks of life. Some of the films include, "Chancla," a self-titled documentary about the San Marcos-based singing comedy duo Ranger Reading, a short film about a fictional baseball player struggling to shoot a commercial promoting literacy, a musical pilgrimage to a statue of Selena, and a New Yorker who's a South American revolutionary in his own mind.
