Ragamuffin Film Festival
NR Directed by Various.
REVIEWED By Marjorie Baumgarten, Tue., July 9, 2002
The purpose of this annual festival is to encourage Christians to make films and explore the full range of human experience. Screening will be a batch of award-winning short films, including "The Perils of Nude Modeling" and the 2003 Academy Award nominee for Best Live-Action Short "Most." Two documentaries include Beyond the Gates of Splendor, which chronicles the story of the Waodani tribe in the aftermath of the 1956 slaying of five American missionaries; and Frisbee: The Life & Death of a Hippie Preacher, which recounts the life of Lonnie Frisbee, the radical hippie turned Christian evangelist whose call into the ministry came while involved in the Laguna Beach homosexual scene.
