"Marie Curie: The Woman Behind the Mind" (2002) and "Mileva Maric: The Other Einstein"
1999, NR, 83 min. Directed by Alana Cash.
REVIEWED By Marjorie Baumgarten, Tue., June 18, 2002
These documentaries about two very different women scientists should provide the stuff to expand any young kid's mind about gender distinctions in the practice of science. Mileva Maric, about whom little is recorded, was Albert Einstein's first wife and attended university with him. Marie Curie was the recipient of two Nobel Prizes, although her love affair with her work did not exclude real-life romance. All ticket proceeds will benefit future T.W.I.S.T. programs and help fund Cash's next documentary on Anna Freud. For more on T.W.I.S.T. or this program see www.twistinc.org or call 380-9922.
