Flicker No. 8
NR Directed by Various.
REVIEWED By Marjorie Baumgarten, Mon., April 8, 2002
This bimonthly film festival showcases short films by local and national filmmakers who submit works via mail. Flicker guarantees an array of projects and intriguing juxtapositions at every screening, with linear narratives butting up against radical experiments, polished productions followed by earnest first efforts. All films are under 15 minutes in length and originate on film. All admission proceeds go toward the Flicker Film Grant, which awards $100 to a deserving local filmmaker at each and every Flicker. Included in this screening are works by local filmmakers Samantha Krukowski, Jeremy Fleishman & Jonathan Thronhill, Andrew McAllister, Aaron Valdez, Gary Price, Laura Barrett, and Tate English & Mike Suter. Also screening are films on tour from other Flickers around the U.S. See www.flickeraustin.com for info and directions, or austinchronicle.com/issues/dispatch/2001-07-20/screens_feature.html.
