The Gay Deceivers

REVIEWED By Marjorie Baumgarten, Wed., Feb. 21, 2001

This little-seen gay-themed film from the Sixties stars two straight guys who play "sissy" to avoid the Vietnam draft. They move into a swishy, all-gay apartment complex in Los Angeles, and a comedy of errors ensues. This pre-Stonewall relic is full of limp-wristed stereotypes and anachronistic comedy, but its perspective on camp humor of the period knows no rival but The Boys in the Band.
