Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark

Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark

1981, PG, 115 min. Directed by Steven Spielberg. Starring Harrison Ford, Karen Allen, Denholm Elliott, Wolf Kahler, Paul Freeman.

REVIEWED By Marjorie Baumgarten, Wed., Sept. 13, 2000

On the heels of his turn in the 1980 Star Wars sequel The Empire Strikes Back, Harrison Ford gave one of his most memorable performances as Indiana Jones, a dashing Saturday matinee idol for the modern age. Handsome, smart, and oozing charm, Jones is the archaeologist searching for the ark of the covenant in Africa, Egypt, and elsewhere. Spielberg brings his signature blend of action/adventure and humor to the film, celebrating its 19th anniversary with this re-release.
