Once upon a time in what seems like a galaxy far, far away, George Lucas knew how to tell stories about real people in real settings. He hit one out of the ballpark with the magnificent American Graffiti, whose prescient use of a before-they-were-stars cast and interwoven stories made this filmmaker seem like one of the great hopes of modern cinema. Teen tales don’t get much better than this.
