God Save the Pixel: The 16 Color Collection and Blood Sweat and Pixels: The Adult Movies of 16 Color are two shows that include the best animated movies in the collection of local Webcasters 16 Color (www.16color.com). Works were created entirely online by amateur and professional animators from around the globe, and 16 Color’s collection represents one the most diverse catalogs of animated movies anywhere. In 18 months of operation, the company has amassed over 5,000 movies running more than 12 hours. These two showcases (one all-ages show, and one for ages 18 and over) will be presented on the big screen in their lo-fi resolution by16 Color’s creator and curator, Alan Watts, with the help of digital artist and filmmaker Ken Adams (Alien Dreamtime, Strange Attractor) and electronic musician Jeremy Ballard. Last March, the Web site was awarded two SXSW Interactive awards: Best Community Site and Most Innovative Use of Medium. It has also been named a Yahoo Daily Pick and Shockwave Site of the Day.
