Night of the Living Dead
1968, NR, 96 min. Directed by George Romero. Starring Duane Jones, Judith O'Dea, Russell Streiner, Karl Hardman, Keith Wayne.
REVIEWED By Marjorie Baumgarten, Thu., Sept. 16, 1999
This is the granddaddy of modern flesh-eating zombie movies. Romero's gore classic seems tame by current standards, but in its time – my, oh my. Due more to how it makes you think rather than to what it shows, Night of the Living Dead gets under your skin and burrows into your blood and psyche.
