This popular Cold War comedy was a riot in its day. Alan Arkin made a memorable screen debut as the leader of a scouting party for a Russian vessel stranded off a remote New England island. The cast is great and the scene in which Carl Reiner and vaudeville vet Tessie O'Shea are lashed together is unforgettably funny.
