The oldest continuously operated county fair in Texas is back for its 135th year with livestock, vendors, a carnival, music, and pari-mutuel horse racing.

Try your luck on the ponies as the quarter and thoroughbred horses take to the track with a post time of 2pm.

Houston's purple martins spend most of the day feeding on flying insects to build energy for their long journey across the Gulf of Mexico. At dusk, they form large flocks and roost together in preparation for migration. Bringing a lawn chair and umbrella is recommended.
