    The school district is reestablishing the Ombuds Office, which "helps families and staff navigate the Austin ISD system by hearing concerns that have not been resolved by a campus or Central Office." Give feedback at a public session in Spanish (6pm) or English (7pm); AISD staff can chime in at noon.

    The Bullock Museum is part of a collaboration of the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families, the Department of Defense, and museums across America, which means active duty military members and their families get free exhibit admission all summer, from Armed Forces Day to Labor Day.

    Fresh for Less Mobile Markets

    This program from the city of Austin, run by Farmshare Austin, has opened new market locations. There are now six weekly markets around town that sell Texas-grown produce, eggs, honey, and other groceries all at reduced prices. Most major cards are accepted at these markets and if you are a SNAP customer, you can also use your Lone Star card and Double Up Food Bucks. Locations and schedules are subject to change, so check the current info online to find one near you.

    Double your giving this month in one fell swoop: Blood and platelet donors at We Are Blood can choose either Central Texas Food Bank or Austin Humane Society as recipients of a $5 donation from WRB. As part of the campaign, they'll host blood drives at Austin Humane Society (124 W. Anderson, Thu., June 15, 11am-1:30pm) and at the Central Texas Food Bank (6500 Metropolis, Tue., June 20, 11am-2pm).

    The Travis County Sheriff’s Office, Austin Police Department, Austin Fire Department, and Austin-Travis County EMS will “battle” it out to see who can recruit the most blood donors; the department to receive the most votes via donors is declared the winner.
