    Stay Black & Live Juneteenth Festival

    The fourth annual fest on the theme "Austin Family Reunion" offers several days of programming, from community kickbacks, dance parties, cookouts, and live music to dynamic conversations with thought leaders, educators and public scholars. Grammy nominee SaulPaul, Grammy winner Pamela Dawson, James Beard honoree Michael T. Twitty, and Pulitzer winner Dr. Annette Gordon-Reed are just a few of the highlights of the weeklong festivities.

    Black West Austin Driving Tour

    Join Neill-Cochran House Museum for a tour of West Austin African American history beginning at the museum and winding through historic sites of Wheatville and Clarksville, two of the original fifteen freedman communities established in Austin after the end of the Civil War. The tour includes access to videos for each stop that explore the history of the site and create connections between the past and present.

    The Bullock Museum is part of a collaboration of the National Endowment for the Arts, Blue Star Families, the Department of Defense, and museums across America, which means active duty military members and their families get free exhibit admission all summer, from Armed Forces Day to Labor Day.

    Freedom + Juneteenth: A Night of Jubilation

    Join Pease Park Conservancy and Art Is Cool for food, conversation, and jubilation. Learn from an incredible panel of experts who will share their knowledge and research around Austin’s Black Freedom Communities that once lived and thrived along Shoal Creek prior to the 1928 City of Austin Plan and the history of Juneteenth celebrations in Austin. Funmi Ogunro will moderate the panel and share a preview of her upcoming documentary about Austin’s Black Freedom Communities.

    Fresh for Less Mobile Markets

    This program from the city of Austin, run by Farmshare Austin, has opened new market locations. There are now six weekly markets around town that sell Texas-grown produce, eggs, honey, and other groceries all at reduced prices. Most major cards are accepted at these markets and if you are a SNAP customer, you can also use your Lone Star card and Double Up Food Bucks. Locations and schedules are subject to change, so check the current info online to find one near you.

    Third Thursday at Lenoir

    Every third Thursday, Lenoir donates 5% of sales to community organizations near and dear to their hearts. This month’s beneficiary is CASA of Travis County, which trains volunteers to promote and protect the best interests of children who have experienced abuse or neglect and advocate for them in courts, schools, and the community. Enjoy family, friends, and fine times at the restaurant as you contribute to a great cause.

    We Are Blood Giving Double Campaign

    Double your giving this month in one fell swoop: Blood and platelet donors at We Are Blood can choose either Central Texas Food Bank or Austin Humane Society as recipients of a $5 donation from WRB. As part of the campaign, they'll host blood drives at Austin Humane Society (124 W. Anderson, Thu., June 15, 11am-1:30pm) and at the Central Texas Food Bank (6500 Metropolis, Tue., June 20, 11am-2pm).
