    Juneteenth History Day at Pioneer Farms

    The historic farm will present the exhibit "Trailblazers in the 1800s Army," about African-American troops in the U.S. Army, and will have expert Alan Mack on hand. A special program from 10:30am to 12:30pm includes a reading of the Emancipation order that freed Texas slaves, special presentations and exhibits, and a sneak preview of the 1800s Dodson Farm that is currently under restoration.

    Jester King 13th Anniversary

    Toast to lucky 13 with Psych Metal and SPON specialty beer releases, music from five live bands, interactive art installations including painting and metalsmithing, vendors from Austin Flea including live tarot and birth chart readings, locally grown mushrooms and a Cordyceps demo from Smallhold, and even a whole roasted goat (available at 1pm).

    Fresh for Less Mobile Markets

    This program from the city of Austin, run by Farmshare Austin, has opened new market locations. There are now six weekly markets around town that sell Texas-grown produce, eggs, honey, and other groceries all at reduced prices. Most major cards are accepted at these markets and if you are a SNAP customer, you can also use your Lone Star card and Double Up Food Bucks. Locations and schedules are subject to change, so check the current info online to find one near you.

    Double your giving this month in one fell swoop: Blood and platelet donors at We Are Blood can choose either Central Texas Food Bank or Austin Humane Society as recipients of a $5 donation from WRB. Anderson, Thu., June 15, 11am-1:30pm) and at the Central Texas Food Bank (6500 Metropolis, Tue., June 20, 11am-2pm).
