    Texas Burlesque Festival

    Looking for an exciting, titillating night out? You'll find it over three days at this festival featuring the legendary Penny Starr Sr., fresh off her appearance on America’s Got Talent and this year's reigning King of Burlesque, P. NoNoire. With too much talent to fit in the originally planned two days, they added a Thursday mixer and performance at Kick Butt Coffee (5775 Airport), with the remaining shows at the Long Center.

    Watch a new generation of accordion players compete for grand prizes in polka, Cajun, zydeco, and conjunto accordion traditions at Texas Folklife's Big Squeeze Accordion contest finals and concert, back for its 17th year. This year’s competition will feature special performances by Josh Baca & the Hot Tamales and Elena Fainshtein.

    O. Henry Museum Pun-Off World Championships

    The Austin Parks and Recreation Department’s Brush Square Museums, in collaboration with the Brush Square Museums Foundation, presents the 46th annual and internationally renowned spoken word competition focused on the art of the pun. To express excitement about returning to the traditional date after being moved to fall because of COVID, this year’s theme will be “Spring for Words!”

    We always shop Blue Genie Art Bazaar during the winter holiday season, but we don't have to wait seven more months!     Fresh for Less Mobile Markets

    This program from the city of Austin, run by Farmshare Austin, has opened new market locations. There are now six weekly markets around town that sell Texas-grown produce, eggs, honey, and other groceries all at reduced prices. Most major cards are accepted at these markets and if you are a SNAP customer, you can also use your Lone Star card and Double Up Food Bucks. Locations and schedules are subject to change, so check the current info online to find one near you.
