    Carver Museum ATX presents an exhibit examining the paradox of American exceptionalism and the call for reparations, with film, sculpture, and two-dimensional work from 11 artists who were asked to consider what is required for America to atone for the continued denial of full citizenship to Black people, and what repair would feel like in the body.

    Fresh for Less Mobile Markets

    This program from the city of Austin, run by Farmshare Austin, has opened new market locations. There are now six weekly markets around town that sell Texas-grown produce, eggs, honey, and other groceries all at reduced prices. Most major cards are accepted at these markets and if you are a SNAP customer, you can also use your Lone Star card and Double Up Food Bucks. Locations and schedules are subject to change, so check the current info online to find one near you.

    Governor's Community Achievement Awards

    The GCAA program has recognized outstanding communities since 1969, with the Texas Department of Transportation providing landscaping award funding since 1985. This year, ten winning communities will share $2 million in landscaping awards from TxDOT, with the amount based on population size. The funds are used for landscaping projects along state rights of way. Applications are now being accepted.

    Winter Storm Update From DSD

    If your home or business is in need of emergency repairs due to the recent storm, work can begin immediately. The Development Services Department will work with you to retroactively permit and inspect all emergency repairs to ensure work was completed safely. If you are removing fallen limbs or trees, take photos and document the estimated diameter and size of the tree for documentation, and contact Austin Energy immediately if anything has fallen on a power line.
