    Mighty Texas Dog Walk

    The Doggiest Day in Austin features a milelong promenade, giveaways, a "We Are Family" costume contest, a chance to color in the "World's Biggest Coloring Book," Grand Marshal Kaxan's book launch, and tons more furry fun to benefit Service Dogs Inc.

      This year's theme is inspired by Dorothy Richter, who started the tour in 1975 and referred to the neighborhood as "a village within a city." Richter passed in 2020 and this is the first tour since then. Check in at the Baker Center to get a bracelet and booklet with the tour map, and visit the artist fair with paintings, jewelry, crafts, and live music.

      Platelet Donors Urgently Needed

      A growing community means a growing need for platelets, which are a crucial component of blood used for cancer patients, people with traumatic injuries, and pediatric transplant patients. In an effort to ramp up platelet donations, We Are Blood launched “Power Up,” a program that awards donors who donate five times by Nov. 30.       Volunteer With Operation Turkey

      Nonprofit Operation Turkey serves hearty Thanksgiving meals to folks who otherwise wouldn't get one. On Thanksgiving eve they'll be smoking hundreds of turkeys and accepting care package donations, then on Thanksgiving they'll deliver the meals and donations to homeless or less fortunate Austinites. Any kind of help is appreciated, so sign up now or donate online.
