      It's kitten season, y'all! Austin Humane Society is raising funds for the care of all the babies on the way with a paw-some community event, with a bake-off, stress-relieving kitten yoga (at 10 & 11am), activities for kids, a donation drive, and more. Very Important Purr-son tix include a bake-off tasting ticket, a special gift, and swag.

      La Mujer: A Celebration of Womxn

      The 11th annual festival inspired by feminist Sor Juana Ines de la Cruz will highlight the accomplishments of inspiring mujeres, with a stellar lineup of musicians, poets, visual artists, and womxn business owners participating in community building, networking, education, and entertainment. Frida Friday ATX brings the mercado, and food trucks and parking are available on-site. Grab a shuttle from Sánchez Elementary (73 San Marcos St.) if you like.

      Rise Up 4 Abortion Rights

      On May 2, a leaked draft memo from Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito indicated an intention to overturn Roe v. Wade. Join an emergency protest at the Capitol May 3 in response, and participate in the previously scheduled national week of action May 8-14 to stand up for abortion rights.

      Stories From the Road Car Show & Benefit

      A classic car show with live music, a Kendra Scott pop-up, a kids' corner, vendors, a raffle, coffee, and food trucks. Proceeds benefit nonprofit Drive a Senior ATX, which enables older adults to live independently, avoid social isolation, and age in place by providing free, volunteer-based transportation and other support services.

      Austin Animal Center is in need of foster homes for dogs due to shelter overcrowding and a heat advisory. They've got kennels in every climate-controlled nook and cranny in the shelter, so anyone who can take on a new furry friend and alleviate the stress is urged to do so.

      Arts + Culture Celebration

      The Trail Foundation hosts a three-part event to celebrate the unveiling of a floating wetland installation called "Common Waters." It launches at Waller Beach (12 East Ave.) and travels down Lady Bird Lake to a celebration at Lakeshore Park (2525 S. Lakeshore). Join for the launch and follow along by land or water, or join the celebration at the installation. There'll be live music and refreshments, as well as chances to interact with the artists.
