  • The Amazing Acro-Cats: Keep It Weird in Austin!

    The Acro-Cats tour supports Rock Cats Rescue, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Rock Cats Rescue is focused on saving cats "One Click at a Time" through cat welfare, rescue, and adoption. The Acro-Cats show promotes the importance of bonding and training cats with positive reinforcement, while also finding homes for rescued cats.

    Local celebrity chef and James Beard award winner Aaron Franklin's Hot Luck Festival is back, with four days of food and music over Memorial Day weekend benefiting the Southern Smoke Foundation, which supports hospitality industry workers. Dozens of chefs from Texas and beyond will offer their culinary delights, and live music will be offered at Mohawk each night.

    We always shop Blue Genie Art Bazaar during the winter holiday season, but we don't have to wait seven more months!     This program from the city of Austin, run by Farmshare Austin, has opened new market locations. There are now six weekly markets around town that sell Texas-grown produce, eggs, honey, and other groceries all at reduced prices. Most major cards are accepted at these markets and if you are a SNAP customer, you can also use your Lone Star card and Double Up Food Bucks.     Vortex Summer Youth Theatre: Auditions for 'The Memo'

    The Vortex seeks students ages 13-17 to participate in Summer Youth Theatre 2023. Now in its thirty-first year, this award-winning, tuition-free program rehearses and performs evenings and weekends in June and July. Rehearsals culminate in a full production of The Memo (also known as The Memorandum) by Václav Havel, to be staged for the public July 21-29. Note: Students of any ethnicity, gender, ability/disability, economic background, and experience level are welcome to audition to be a part of an ensemble of diverse youth training together to present this stylish satire, as directed by Jelena Stojiljkovic Rhynes.
