    This year, the Emma S. Barrientos Mexican American Cultural Center hosts its annual Viva México celebration virtually, free of charge, livestreamed on Youtube, Facebook, and Twitter. Hosted by Roen Salinas, the event features music and dance by local artists, family-friendly hands-on activities, a Ballet Folklorico lesson and performance, and a multimedia exhibit from artist Diana Molina – and Consulate General of México Pablo Marentes will give the classic Grito de Independencia to close out the evening.

Applications are being accepted for both the Bicycle Advisory Council and Pedestrian Advisory Council.     Austin ISD has launched new web pages full of resources, FAQs, and instructions to support Community Learning Spaces and caregivers as students begin learning remotely for the first four weeks of school. Community Learning Spaces are facilitated by community organizations, groups of parents, faith-based organizations, or public entities that provide in-person support to students during times of remote off-campus instruction, and you can find one online if needed.

    Austin ISD will continue to provide free, local Farm Fresh Boxes from the Common Market Texas through October 7. Boxes feature a variety of Texas-grown vegetables and are available at no cost to families with children under the age of 19, and are available until they run out. Children may accept the boxes, or they will be provided to the adults accompanying children or with documentation of the children they are picking meals up for.
