The Austin Empty Bowl Project is an effort by Austin area potters to fight hunger, raising funds for Kids Cafe, a program of the Central Texas Food Bank, and Meals for Kids, a program of Meals on Wheels Central Texas. The city's fourth annual contest is open now for submissions from Austin students ages 10 to 18. With Central Texas experiencing extremely high temperatures, city leaders issued a reminder to be aware of Excessive Heat Watch and Excessive Heat Warning alerts from the National Weather Service.
