    BT's Annual Gumbo Cook-off

    What started as a friendly competition between two friends is now an annual competition among chefs and home cooks. Each contestant submits three gallons of their finest Cajun cuisine to be judged by a panel of judges and guests, and half the proceeds go to nonprofit Operation Turkey while the other half will go to a charity chosen by the winner.     Carter Couch Toy Drive

    The Couch family is teaming up with Occupy Left Field Foundation and RBI Austin for a toy drive to raise awareness about childhood epilepsy in memory of sweet young Carter, who suddenly passed away from the illness at age 2 and a half. Learn more about Carter through the website, and bring new, unwrapped toys to the taproom all weekend for the toy drive in his honor.

    A growing community means a growing need for platelets, which are a crucial component of blood used for cancer patients, people with traumatic injuries, and pediatric transplant patients. In an effort to ramp up platelet donations, We Are Blood launched “Power Up,” a program that awards donors who donate five times by Nov. 30.
