    CANCELED: Veterans Day Parade

    Due to anticipated bad weather, the parade has been canceled. This year's theme is Veteran Mental Health, and the Austin Veterans Parade Foundation offers several helpful resources to assist veterans struggling with the far-reaching impact their service can have on them and their families. Join to support the marchers on the parade route, which concludes with a ceremony on the south steps of the Capitol, and consider making a donation to support our local heroes.

    Central Texas Food Bank always welcomes donations, but now is a great time to chip in because thanks to community partners at the Beaumont Foundation, every dollar donated is doubled up to $100,000.     Platelet Donors Urgently Needed

    A growing community means a growing need for platelets, which are a crucial component of blood used for cancer patients, people with traumatic injuries, and pediatric transplant patients. In an effort to ramp up platelet donations, We Are Blood launched “Power Up,” a program that awards donors who donate five times by Nov. 30.     Volunteer With Operation Turkey

    Nonprofit Operation Turkey serves hearty Thanksgiving meals to folks who otherwise wouldn't get one. On Thanksgiving eve they'll be smoking hundreds of turkeys and accepting care package donations, then on Thanksgiving they'll deliver the meals and donations to homeless or less fortunate Austinites.
