    The Black Feminist Guide to the Human Body

    This is a one-night-only staged reading of a new choreopoem by Lisa B. Thompson, offering a spiritual mixtape, praise dance, community guide, self-help book, lullaby, road map, collective diary of prayers and lies, and love song for Black women and girls. Directed by Rudy Ramirez for the Vortex, and featuring performances by Nadine Mozon, Hayley Armstrong, and Sadé M. Jones.

    Everyone’s favorite alien drag queen Juno Birch stars in her theatrical one-woman show. Witness the alien queen express her delusional self love through slapstick song and "dance" – joined by her plastic puppet daughter on "a chaotic stage adventure full of lobsters, legs, and laughter."

    Small Steps

    Shrewd Productions presents the first world premiere of local playwright Briandaniel Oglesby. This "hilarious and campy, but heartfelt" play deals with the very real themes of isolation and loneliness, and the bravery involved in searching for real connection in our disconnected world.     Auditions: Esther's Follies

    Esther's Follies on Sixth Street is holding auditions for male performers with comedy, musical, stage, and light dance experiences. Auditions will be held in early August, from 2:30-4pm, or upon appointment. Note: Rehearsals are on Tuesdays and Wednesdays every week, noon-3pm, and before shows on Thursdays and Fridays, 6-7pm. All performers must attend rehearsals to be in the shows. Pay starts at $600 weekly. See website for details!

    Head Over Heels

    This laugh-out-loud love story about the outrageous escapades of a royal family is set to the music of the iconic 1980s rock band the Go-Go’s and includes the hit songs, “We Got the Beat,” “Our Lips Are Sealed,” “Vacation,” and Belinda Carlisle’s “Heaven is a Place on Earth” and “Mad About You.” Featuring the Go-Go’s very own Kathy Valentine as music director.
