    It's … Hideoutrageous!

There's a stage upstairs, there's a stage downstairs, there's coffee all over the place and all sorts of shows and classes here. This Thursday, the Hideout's gonna show all you Valentines just how Love Is a Funny Thing with an evening of improv games, scenes, musical numbers, and chocolates-and-flowers that'll fuel the fire of your love or ease the pain of lovelessness. Friday's got Don't Interrupt Me! with Physics Curse, followed by the all-star Big Bash shindig, and a Threefer, and that battle royale of TheatreDome to finish the night. And, on Saturday night, after they go all Ringwaldian with Small Town Girl, it's that Victor Hugo-your-way of Grand Misery, or maybe you wanna Put Your Lips Together and Blow, gumshoe? And don't forget the latenight improv donnybrook of Maestro! And – see website for more.

    Underground Comedy

This basement venue is dedicated to "bringing the best in alternative comedy with shows seven nights a week." For instance: Monday starts things off with that sprightly revue of optimism called Fuck This Week, there's Rob Gagnon's unpredictable Sandbox on Tuesdays, the all-female comedy showcase called Garage on Wednesdays, the inarguable power of Sure Thing hosted by Duncan Carson and Brendan K. O’Grady every Friday night, and Arielle Isaac Norman's Off-Script Comedy (where hecklers are rewarded) on the third Saturday of each month.

You're looking for … what? OPEN MICS?

There's a lot of them in Austin, brothers and sisters. Sometimes there's as many as 25 in one week. And comedian Joe Faina went to all of them a while back – find out what he found out, right here.
