    A Sense of Place: Public Art Conversation

    This colloquy offers an opportunity to re-imagine how art in public places impacts the built environment. Topics will focus on ideas of impact, the sensibilities of site-specific and site-responsive artworks, permanence, and the healing aspects of being in nature with art. Speakers include founders Elizabeth Monoian and Robert Ferry (founders of Land Art Generator Initiative), Nate Cormier (Managing Studio Director and Landscape Architect, RIOS), Kathleen Stimpert (Deputy Director, UT Landmarks), Sharon Maidenberg (Executive Director, The Contemporary Austin), Raisin McIntosh (Raasin in the Sun and the Downtown Austin Alliance), Constance White (Director, City of Austin’s Art in Public Places), and Heidi Anderson (CEO, The Trail Conservancy).

    The Latino Comedy Project's jefe grande, Adrian Villegas, brings back his dynamite one-man show – a note-perfect performance set against the spectacle of a tumultuous national election, a sprawling and irreverent tour through a single day in the barrio.

    Creek Show

    Since 2014, Waterloo Greenway has commissioned site-specific work by Austin-based artists, architects, designers, and landscapers to (literally) illuminate the night and explore different themes related to Waller Creek. Creek Show 2023 will feature free activities each evening, including live music, food and beverages, and family-friendly fun among the six new light-based, eye-dazzling installations.

    City Theatre Austin presents a one-weekend musical performance that gives thanks to the legendary composers, singers, and artists that have touched our lives, featuring the unforgettable songs of Jerry Herman, Burt Bacharach, Kander and Ebb, Stephen Schwartz, Christine McVie, Marvin Hamlisch, Olivia Newton-John, and Jason Robert Brown, with musical direction by Jeffrey Jones-Ragona.
