    Leapin' lizards! Could it be true that the Chronicle's own Robert Faires plays the part of Daddy Warbucks in this ridiculously popular musical classic based on Harold Gray's old-school comic strip about a plucky young orphan in the Depression Era? Yes, he does – among an exuberant cast of TexARTS professionals directed by Joey Banks.

    Austin Chamber Music Festival

    The Austin Chamber Music Center presents the final weekend of this 23rd annual summer music festival that features world-class ensembles and musicians. See performances by Aeolus Quartet (Fri., July 19, 7:30pm); Beijing Guitar Duo (Sat., July 20, 7:30pm); and ACMC's team-up with Austin Shakespeare for a unique presentation of The Tempest (Sun., July 21, 3pm).

    This 28th annual summertime show at the Vortex features a new musical adaptation of Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland by Ingrid Oslund, with a cast of young professionals directed by Gabriel Maldonado.
