For its 26th year, the annual fundraiser is back in person at the food bank. Pick out a ceramic bowl, choose your favorite soup, grab a piece of bread and enjoy lunch while listening to live music. Austin Studio Tour
The Austin Studio Tour, produced by Big Medium, is a free, self-guided art event that combines the West Austin Studio Tour and East Austin Studio Tour to provide opportunities for artists all over Austin to connect with each other and showcase current work – and for the public to experience the cultural vibrancy of our city from, you might say, the inside out. This year's Tour happens over three weekends and will be divided into two regions, west of IH-35 and east of IH-35, allowing citizens to choose weekends and regions and plan accordingly. BT's Annual Gumbo Cook-off
What started as a friendly competition between two friends is now an annual competition among chefs and home cooks. Each contestant submits three gallons of their finest Cajun cuisine to be judged by a panel of judges and guests, and half the proceeds go to nonprofit Operation Turkey while the other half will go to a charity chosen by the winner. Carter Couch Toy Drive
The Couch family is teaming up with Occupy Left Field Foundation and RBI Austin for a toy drive to raise awareness about childhood epilepsy in memory of sweet young Carter, who suddenly passed away from the illness at age 2 and a half. A graduate of Houston’s prestigious High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, Kate Kortum headlined her first Monks show in 2021, at only 19. Still not of drinking age, the DownBeat Student Award winner has sung not only with locals like Andre Hayward and Mike Sailors, but national headliners like Sheila Jordan and the New York Voices. Having already performed at NYC’s Birdland and Newport Jazz Festival, she returns to Monks to preview her upcoming debut Good Woman. After Dark X Austin Studio Tour
As part of Big Medium’s annual Austin Studio Tour, After Dark curates three nights blending visual arts, cinema, and performance. Nov. 12 features films produced on analog formats and premieres the work of five local visual artists, concluding with a performance from Raphaella the Swan. Nov. 19 debuts a multimedia immersive experience from local artist and filmmaker William F. Reed, and screens horror, comedy, and sci-fi narratives from five filmmakers, followed by immersive drag from Gothess Jasmine and Dust Bunny. Nov. 20 will delight the senses with film loops, analog camera tinkering, a live analog DJ, and other surprises to top off the celebration.Fri.-Sat., Nov. 19-20, 8pm-midnight. Free. -
