    Habitat for Humanity Launches Online ReStore

    Austin Habitat for Humanity announced that it has taken the ReStore online, allowing the community to shop the wide variety of items currently listed for sale from the comfort of their own home. Similar to the brick-and-mortar locations, you'll find deals on unique items from clothing and shoes to home and garden accessories and more, and when you shop, you're supporting Habitat for Humanity's mission.

    City of Austin's Safe Routes to School program invites seventh and eighth grade students to create their very own public service announcement (a short educational video) showing how to walk, bike, and roll to school safely. The winning filmmakers get Alamo Drafthouse gift cards, and their video will be shown in middle schools across Austin. Get all the details and submit your entry online.

    NTD on the VCT Virtual 5K Fun Run & 1M Walk

    National Trails Day is a nationwide event to encourage people to discover local trails and celebrate spending time outdoors. For the second annual NTD on the VCT Fun Run, Hill Country Conservancy chose a 5K running course or 1-mile walking course highlighting how Dick Nichols Park connects to the Violet Crown Trail. You can choose a virtual or live version; when you register you'll get the route, a Strava link, a race/walk bib, and a link to the virtual afterparty featuring Will Dupuy. Run or walk anytime between May 30 and June 6, or join the live version Sat., June 6, anytime between 7am and noon. Post a photo of yourself at the finish line on the Hill Country Conservancy Facebook page using #NTDontheVCT to receive a free breakfast taco coupon from Eldorado Cafe and a virtual medal. Virtual afterparty is at 1pm Sat., June 6.

    Rock the Beat 2020

    Since Mended Little Hearts' annual fundraising walk is unable to proceed at the Austin Zoo, it's now a virtual walk. Register yourself and/or a team and set up a fundraising page, then get moving on your own terms and raise awareness of the issue. Funds raised will be used for support services for families dealing with congenital heart defects.

    Travis County Democratic Party is seeking election workers for the July 14 election. No prior experience is needed; you will receive three hours of paid training by Travis County Elections and guidance from veteran workers. On election day, you will be paid for working the full day: $12/hour for judges, and $10/hour for clerks and ballot board members. Your safety is a serious priority; all workers will be provided PPE, hand sanitizers, and hand washing stations, and you will be trained for sanitary procedures with voters.
