Announcing the Finalists for the SXSW Interactive Awards

South by Southwest Interactive has long been regarded as a breeding ground for innovation and creativity, but the Interactive Awards recognize the best of the best in a far more formal way.

Today, SXSW announced the finalists for the 17th annual awards show, including five projects in each of 15 categories. For the most part, the finalists all represent the best of their kind from 2013, but the Classic category recognizes innovations from years past.

Congratulations to all the finalists.

The 17th annual SXSW Interactive Awards ceremony will be held Tuesday, March 11, 7pm, at the Hilton Downton. Emcee this year is Nerdist's Jessica Chobot. Also included in this year's ceremony will be the induction of Joi Ito into the SXSW Interactive Festival Hall of Fame
