New Texas Rollergirls roster picks mix rookies, transfers, retirees

Drafty on the Flat Track

Another year, another Texas Rollergirls draft: But this one may be the most surprising to date, with some shocking returns mixed with the rookies and transfers.

Hustlers: Even with a pretty stable line-up, the 2011 Texas Rollergirls champs have found some space on the bench for Me Shove You Long Time, Scrape Myrtle, Mommy Rotten, Sprawkett, and MariEasy Livin'.

Hell Marys: No rookies for last season's top contenders for 'most improved' but they get a massive boost with Gotham Rollergirl transplants Barbara Ambush and Polly Gone. They also welcome two returning retirees: Peppermint Bratty will be donning the Hells uniform for the second time, but the big shock is Morphine. For the short, sharp shocking jammer to not go straight back to the Hotrod Honeys is a real surprise.

Honky Tonk Heartbreakers: Good news for Sinnamon, Flash Gordon and rec league institution Runaway Tre, who all get slots on the gingham bench (yeah, we know, the boutfits are now blue and gold, but you know the saying: You can take the cowgirl out of the uniform …). Yet long-time fans of the sport are looking at the returning retirees. After a year out for her first child, Desi Cration is back on the track, and she's joined by another Heartbreaker vet as Yellow Die shakes off what everyone thought was a career-ending injury. Filling out the roster will be Headless Highness, a transfer from long-time rivals Kansas City Roller Warriors.

Hotrod Honeys: Still speaking of the Heartbreakers, the big news is that veteran Rita Menweep has abandoned the glitter for the pink and black. She will be joined by newcomers Kiss of Steph, Punkin and Action Jackson.

Watch for all these skaters to be ready for the Texas Rollergirls 2012 season, starting early next year.
