Saturday Night Is Fight Night at the Erwin Center

The sweet science returns to the Erwin Center this Saturday night with nine bouts currently on the card. The main event features Adauto Gonzalez (8-4-1) and Justo Vallecillo (5-4) pounding it out for a scheduled eight-round fight to claim the belt as the Texas super featherweight champion. Fight Night will also serve as the official kickoff for the Texas Boxing Commission's 75th anniversary celebrations. Those being honored by the commission include boxers Ann Wolfe, Anissa Zamarron, Jesus Chavez, and James Kirkland; trainers Richard Lord (this event's promoter and owner of Lord’s Boxing Gym) and Donald “Pops” Billingsley; and Sen. Gonzalo Barrientos for his support of the sport. Tickets are available from all Texas Box Office outlets and are $20, $30, $50, and $100 VIP (which includes a prefight rib eye steak dinner and more access of the very-important variety). Discounts are also available for UT students, faculty, and staff ($10 tickets) and members of the military ($5 tickets!). For more info, please see
