The path to Oscars victory for Everything Everywhere All at Once began with a now-legendary screening at South by Southwest 2022. Now directors Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert aka Daniels return to Austin as keynote speakers for the 2024 festival in March.

The pair will deliver their keynote, “How We Pulled Off Everything Everywhere All at Once,” going into the creative decisions behind their seven-time Oscar winning smash. Or, as they explain it: “The process of developing, creating, and releasing our surprise hit movie that took the world by st— okay, look, if you’re still reading this, we should tell you that we've run out of new things to say about Everything Everywhere All At Once, so although we’ll try our best to stay on topic, we'll most likely go on a bunch of tangents about the state of the world, the impending climate crisis, the collapse of consensus truth, the rise of AI, the importance and impossibility of self care, and our collective responsibility as storytellers to confront the issues of our time, because that’s probably going to be what’s on our mind, but we can’t make any promises, but at times we don’t feel qualified to talk about any of that stuff, anyway we hope you enjoy our SXSW Keynote!”

The filmmaking duo are part of a new round of speakers and panelists added to the schedule today, joining previously announced speakers including Rosario Dawson and Chuck D. The schedule continues to place an emphasis on the ever-increasing potentials and perils of AI, with a new panel on AI and the Independent Artist, and an appearance by Vice President of Design and Artificial Intelligence at Microsoft John Maeda.

However, if you like your techno future a little more spectacular and with a lot more giant robots, there will be a panel on Gundam XR, the newest project from the massively successful Mobile Suit Gundam franchise, as the 40-year-old anime smash makes its latest technological leap.
