Austin Film Festival Announces Full Lineup
New films from Jeff Nichols, Alexander Payne on the schedule
By Richard Whittaker, 12:00PM, Wed. Sep. 27, 2023

The Bikeriders, the eagerly awaited new film from Jeff Nichols, is just one of the films just announced as part of the complete feature lineup at Austin Film Festival 2023.
Based on the photojournalism of Danny Lyon, Nichols' newest follows a biker couple (Jodie Comer and Austin Butler) as they navigate the chicanes of 1960s biker culture, and the shift from the freewheeling rebelliousness of the post-war era to darker times. Also starring Tom Hardy, Michael Shannon, Mike Faist, and Norman Reedus, it premiered at Telluride last month but puts down the kickstand in Austin af AFF (Oct. 26- Nov. 3) before its award season release on Dec. 1.
Known as the writers festival (and probably breathing a sigh of relief that the Writers Guild of America strike looks closer than ever to being resolved), AFF is also programming works by noteworthy directors, including Hirokazu Kore-eda (Monster), Brian Helgeland (FinestKind), Alexander Payne (The Holdovers), and David Duchovny (Bucky F*cking Dent). Additionally, the festival has confirmed that Emerald Fennell, director of opening night selection Saltburn, will be in attendance.
Austin Film Festival runs Oct. 26-Nov. 3. Badges available now at austinfilmfestival.com. Now here's today's announced titles, including Comedy Vanguard, Dark Matters, Texas Features, and more.
