Disney+ Comes to SXSW

By Richard Whittaker, March 4, 2022, 6:00pm, Picture in Picture

Disney+ is coming to South by Southwest, and they're partnering with three local favorites - Austin Fashion Week, Austin Books and Comics, and Austin Zoo - for a special day of free screenings, open to the public.

Festival attendees will be able to catch the world premiere of Gillian Jacobs' debut documentary More Than Robits (about teens from around the world preparing for the 2020 FIRST Robots Competition), and the eagerly-awaited story of everyone's favorite cartoon rodent in Mickey: The Story of a Mouse. But you don't need a badge to watch some of their recent hits during the festival. The first Saturday of SXSW, March 12, the streaming platform will be presenting three of their biggest flicks of the last year at the Hartman Concert Lawn at the Long Center (701 W. Riverside)

The fun starts at 11:30am (turn up early for free popcorn, giveaways, and more), but each of the three screenings will be hosted by Austinites who know a thing or two about what's happening on the big screen.
