Extra Life is Back in IRL

When is a stream better in person? When it's Rooster Teeth's annual Extra Life fundraiser.

For the last nine years, the Austin-based online studio behind Red vs. Blue, RWBY, and HBO's gen:LOCK has held a charity marathon broadcast (imagine the Jerry Lewis telethon but with more paintballs and Carolina Reaper tortilla chips) for Dell Children's Medical Center of Texas. Last year, the event had to jump online for a virtual version, but this Saturday, Nov. 13, the crew return to the studio for a 12-hour in-person extravaganza.

The live stream will run from 10am central to 10pm, with appearances from the teams from Achievement Hunter and Funhaus, plus Rooster Teeth's take on Squid Games and, inevitably, a lot of carnage. Because Extra Life.

So what's an Extra Life? Founded in 2008, the organization brings together the gaming community for livestream events that benefit Children's Miracle Network Hospitals. Since 2012, RT's Extra Life has raised nearly $6 million for Dell Children's, and those funds have gone towards the center's Magnetoencephalography machine for brain scans, mobile gaming carts for kids in the hospital, and the Rooster Teeth Healing Garden. This year, the proceeds will go toward Dell's HERE campaign, raising funds for new cardiovascular and heart surgery, neurosciences, and oncology/hematology facilities. Why's that important? Because, currently, patients at Dell sometimes have to travel great distances to get these services, and the new 161,000 square foot, four-story building will mean kids won't have the extra stress of travelling far from home when they're already hurting and scared.

The overall goal this year $500,000, and before the event has even started the crew is one-fifth of the way there, with $96,513 pledged. So, yes, that means you can donate now, and right through the feed, right here at

Oh, and don't forget to catch the stream itself at
