Join Us For Death Proof At Home
Every Thursday this month we'll live tweet another local classic

Last week, to bring the Austin film community together, we livetweeted that Lone Star classic The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. It was so much fun that we're going to do it again, with a different film, every Thursday through April - starting with Quentin Tarantino's sick and twisted love letter to the ATX, Death Proof.
Tarantino's half of the epic Grindhouse project with Robert Rodriguez was as much about Austin as it was about their love of exploitation cinema, and with everyone stuck inside it'll be a blast to take an on-screen cruise around down town with Jungle Julia and the gang (complete with a quick trip to the infamous back porch at the Texas Chili Parlor).
But that's not the only Austin movie we'll be tweeting along to this month. Mark these local classics on your calendar:
• April 2: Death Proof
• April 9: A trip back to the Grindhouseverse with the first spin-off, as Robert Rodriguez turns Danny Trejo into the unstoppable Machete.
• April 16: The wellspring of Austin indie cinema, Richard Linklater's Slacker.
• April 23: A real throwback to when Austin first started attracting directors looking for somewhere cool to shoot with the Coen Brother's debut, Blood Simple.
And what about April 30? We'll be running an online poll later this month where you'll get to pick from another locally-made fave.
As for Death Proof, follow Chronicle screens editor Richard Whittaker on Twitter at @YorkshireTX, and follow the hashtag #NowStreamingInAustin. We'll start at 8pm Central precisely, so don't be late,
