AFS and AFCA Add Seats for A Hidden Life Screening

By Richard Whittaker, January 22, 2020, 4:50pm, Picture in Picture

Miss out on tickets for the special Austin Film Critics Association screening of Terrence Malick's A Hidden Life? The AFCA and AFS Cinema have added extra seats for the show tonight.

Malick's biopic of conscientious objector Franz Jägerstätter , depicting his struggle against the evils of the Third Reich, won the AFCA's Austin Film Award for the best movie made locally or by a local director, as announced last month. Since 2018, the association and Austin Film Society have hosted a special hometown screening of the winner, so A Hidden Life follows Macon Blair's I Don't Feel at Home in this World Anymore and Andrew Bujalski's Support the Girls in receiving this honor.

However, this year's screening has seen such huge demand that AFS Cinema has moved from the smaller Theater 2 to the larger Theater 1, meaning there are now extra tickets available for the screening at 6:30pm. You can still buy online at www.austinfilm.org, or pick up tickets at the theater (6259 Middle Fiskville).

Don't forget, you can also read our four-star review of what many see as Malick's true return to form here.

Founded in 2005, the ACFA draws its membership from working critics at the Austin American-Statesman, The Austin Chronicle, Cinapse, The Daily Texan, Double Toasted, DVDActive, Fandango, Film School Rejects, FirstShowing.net, Hammer to Nail, Hill Country News, Horror’s Not Dead, Junkfood Cinema, KOOP 91.7 FM, Movies.com, One of Us, ScreenCrush, Smells Like Screen Spirit, and Spectrum News.
