Rooster Teeth Raises $1.4 Million for Charity

Bad wigs. Paint balls. Gaming. Bob Ross pictures. Mustard and ketchup nipples. Lego rolls. Rooster Teeth’s team may have sacrificed all their dignity, but in exchange they raised over $1.4 million for children in hospital.

This weekend, the online behemoth held its annual RT Extra Life 24-hour fundraising marathon for Extra Life, the gaming charity raising cash for the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. All the money goes to local medical charities. Over the previous five years, Rooster Teeth collected $3.5 million in online donations, including the funds for the Rooster Teeth Healing Garden at Dell Children’s Medical Center of Central Texas.

Last year, RT Extra Life raised $1.25 million in one 24-hour period, and that was this year’s target. But the team smashed that record, raising a total of $933,959 in donations, plus cash from special merchandise sales for a grand total of $1,417,288 (and the numbers keep going up, with another $5,000 raised since then).
